Jon Pyzel’s PyzAlien to be added to Firewire range…
Shaper to John John Florence and many of Hawaii’s other top pros, Jon Pyzel has earned a reputation as one of the world’s best shapers. So much so that surfboard manufacturing trailblazers Firewire have chosen his ‘PyzAlien’ as their next new model for 2014.
Part of Pyzel’s ‘Stubby’ series, the Pyzalien looks, on inspection of the planshape, to be a typical summer flyer, with its wide planshape equating to plenty of speed/glide … But there’s some wizardry going on with the bottom contours that takes the PyzAlien beyond your average groveler.
Low entry rocker gives it loads of glide and paddle power – standard small wave logic. But should a critical pocket arise, there’s plenty of curve through the tail area, allowing deft touches to translate into critical turns. And the PyzAlien has a pronounced concave through the mid-section running into a fair amount of VEE through the tail to promote rail surfing.
The PyzAlien is a small wave all-rounder that paddles and generates speed easily whilst being dextrous enough to handle critical sections with aplomb. Suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers.
Those that’ve tried the prototype Firewire PyzAlien have been raving about it.
We hope to have the PyzAlien in store later this year. We’ll be sure to keep you posted. And in the meantime why not check out our current Firewire range?
